The Caribbean has more than 20 inhabited island countries to guarantee you the perfect Caribbean honeymoon of your dreams. These islands are all replete with white sand beaches, azure waters, pampering all-inclusive resorts, and romantic sunsets. And they all offer some of the world’s best water sports and resorts

Although each is incomparable beautiful, they are each different and offer something unique. You can cruise several of the islands or decide on one. The choice won’t be easy. Here are just a few of your options:

St. Lucia

Lovely St. Lucia sometimes gets overlooked as a Caribbean honeymoon destination, and it shouldn’t be. Its rainforest filled with stunning waterfalls draws visitors from around the world. St. Lucia’s mixed cultures of East Indian, African, French, and English guarantees rich music and a wide variety of activities. In addition to the rainforest and beaches, there are the imposing Grand Piton mountains, perfect for hiking and exploring. St. Lucia has a wide range of popular resorts.

The Bahamas

The Bahamas is comprised of 30 small islands, but the odds are you will focus on Nassau on New Providence Island. Nassau leans toward the opulent, with its lovely shops and exclusive resorts, such a Baha Mar, a complex of luxury hotels, fine shopping, a casino, and a top-rated golf course. Baha Mar is situated along the stunning Cable Beach.

Antigua

All Caribbean beaches are extraordinary. However, if there were a beauty contest, Antigua would wear the crown. The island is well-known for its 365 flawless beaches, especially Dickenson Bay, which tends to exceed even the most demanding traveler’s expectations. Here, you can relax by the water with a drink and watch the dolphins at play. When you go for a swim, you’ll be surrounded by fish curious about who you are. In Antigua, even the fish are welcoming.

About The Caribbean

The Caribbean islands are a dazzling display of colors and beaches that are as intoxicating as Caribbean rum. Still, no two Caribbean islands are alike. While the Bahamas is throbbing with the high life, St. Vincent is a wildlife refuge with dazzling wildlife, birds, trails, and nine miles of inviting beaches accessible by boat – all perfect for a day trip.

The island of Cuba offers yet a different perspective of the Caribbean. Its capital, Havana, once was the playground for the adventurous well-to-do, from movie stars to mafiosos, who loved to gamble. Havana was party central, and people who visited expected a good time. These days, a lot of the glitz is gone, but it still offers the unexpected.

There is an abundance of Colonial history to be found in Cuba. Some of the decaying structures are in the process of being rebuilt and renewed to their former glory. Private enterprise is changing the way Cubans have lived for decades. People are discussing politics openly. Risqué modern art is on exhibit. Cuba is reawaking from a long sleep and worth rediscovering.

Beyond the beaches and Havana, Cuba has scenic small towns. Baracoa in the southeast is a trip back in time. It is filled with colonial houses and people playing chess in the park. It is located by the Sagua Baracoa mountain range, a rainforest, and plenty of coconut and banana trees.

Jardines del Rey in northern Cuba has stunning lagoons with flamingos. Cayo Coco is a diving and snorkeling paradise with pelicans and herons. Playa Pilar is one of the premier beaches in the country.

Hear the music when you visit Jamaica. Bob Marley may have started the reggae trend, but now, it simply fills the air. Jamaicans are all about chilling out and getting into the groove. The Rebel Salute festival in St. Ann and Montego Bay’s Reggae Sumfest during the summer have heated bodies throbbing to the beat. It is sure to put some heat in your Caribbean honeymoon.

When in Jamaica’s Montego Bay, channel Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville. As per the song, Montego Bay’s Margaritaville is both a restaurant and a lifestyle amid the city’s Hip Strip. You’ll find 52 different kinds of margaritas here. These will prepare you for the racy dancing in the evening. Hoist a margarita or two and leave your inhibitions at the door. You won’t need them for a while

A Caribbean cruise might be the best way to see a many of the Caribbean islands as possible. Choose from cruises specializing in beaches, wildness, or ancient ruins. Each type of cruise offers something a bit different and allows you to experience several Caribbean islands all at once. If indulging in a cruise, make sure to enjoy the mainland whenever you can. Do some duty-free shopping in St. Thomas or St. Martin. Explore some amazing juggle and rainforest. And be sure to explore local restaurants.

Best Time to Visit The Caribbean

It’s hard to find a bad time to visit the Caribbean. To get the most out of your visit and Caribbean honeymoon, the timing can depend on what your interests are.

Jamaica’s Sumfest, which has been an institution for 27 years during the month of July, is Jamaica’s largest reggae festival. It not only promotes Jamaica’s popular music form, but its culture, as well. This is the largest music event in the world.

In Aruba, the five-day Soul Music Beach Festival takes place at the end of May. It was named the number one Caribbean Summer Festival. The Festival combines live music, several beach parties, and comedy performances. Previous shows have been highlighted by Alicia Keys, Tony Braxton, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, and others.

If you are in Antigua during the holidays, make it a real event. Nelsons Dockyard National Park has its annual champagne party at the dockyard on Christmas Day. There are a number of Christmas activities in Antigua’s fabulous surroundings. The Copper and Lumber Historic Inn has a magnificent Christmas feast with live entertainment. Call 1-268-460-1058 for more information.

Top Things to do in The Caribbean

Sulphur Springs

Have you ever been to a drive-in volcano? When on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia and the town of Soufrière, you’ll be at a natural geothermal zone that keeps spewing steam, but no lava. All that steam has produced mud pools and sulfur-rich hot springs. The sulfur mud is believed to contained healing properties, and locals and visitors alike enjoy a good mud bath. It is agreed that it does produce smooth skin, which is certainly an advantage during a honeymoon. There are showers for a cleanup afterward.

Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens in St. Lucia

Not far from Sulphur Springs, you will find the Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens. It’s the perfect place to visit when you don’t want to remain on the beach but aren’t up to a hike. The plants are exotic and colorful and invite nothing less than romance. With the island’s tropical weather, the garden is in bloom all year round. In addition, Diamond Falls is filled with several mineral waterfalls in which you can swim (not mud baths).

Kiss a Pig in the Bahamas

Kissing a pig is something you probably didn’t anticipate on your Caribbean honeymoon. But you’ll find them on the Bahamian island of Big Major Cay, which is uninhabited except for these cuties. No one knows just how the pigs got to the island, but they are there, and they love human company. (They even made a guest appearance on the reality show, “The Bachelor.”) They will happily frolic and swim with visitors, although we believe their ultimate sneaky aim is to get a treat. Bring them some lush tropical fruit, and they’ll be your friend for life.

Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico

You can always count on the unexpected in Puerto Rico. The Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico in San Juan on 299 Avenida de Diego has over a 1,000 Puerto Rican pieces of art. Some of it goes back to the 17th century while the west wing holds more modern artwork.

Antigua’s VIP Private Platinum Tour

VIP Tours will arrange for an exceptional six-hour private tour for just the two of you geared to your specifications. The tour van has air conditioning and a bar. You will see national parks and several beaches prior to enjoying a Caribbean lunch. The tour gives you a view of how real Antiguans live and includes all major sights, which will be personalized by your private driver.

Coco Bongo, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

This high-voltage club in the Dominican Republic is off the charts with its laser shows, cabaret performances, explosions of confetti, and trapeze acts. This is the premier nightclub in the Dominican Republic, where hedonism rules and where the fun doesn’t end until the early morning.

Weather in The Caribbean

The Caribbean consists of different island countries made up of 5,000 separate smaller islands and reefs. There may be fluctuation in the basic temperature, but for the most part, these islands reach the 90s in the summer and the 70s during the winter. That is truly weather to be enjoyed, whether at the beach or hiking inland.

Winter is high season in Caribbean because everyone is visiting to escape the cold. That makes is more crowded and more expensive. If you don’t object to a costlier Caribbean honeymoon, this is the perfect time to visit.

Summer is the low season. There are fewer visitors, and the humidity can get high. Accommodations can be had at an excellent price.

The Caribbean is, of course, known for its hurricanes, which usually happen from June through the end of November. The southern part of the Caribbean, such as Aruba, Barbados, and Curacao (the “ABCs”) are only mildly affected by hurricanes, if at all.

In recent years, Puerto Rico, Cuba, the US Virgin “Islands, and Guadeloupe have been slammed by hurricanes.
