About Dubai
One thing is certain about your Dubai honeymoon destination. It will be plush and exotic. Dubai is the capital of the Emirate of Dubai and a metropolis offering luxury on a vast scale. In Dubai, you will find the best shopping, most stunning architecture, and the most opulent dining. A mere few decades ago, Dubai was a humble fishing village. Now, it is sumptuous on an almost unprecedented scale. Think Dubai and think big.
It’s your honeymoon, so be prepared to be treated like royalty. For the most luscious of accommodations, try the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, the sole seven-star hotel in the world. They don’t offer mere comfort. Here you will find your paradisal dreams turned into reality. If you are staying at the Palace One & Only Resort, your important arrival as a couple will be announced with a gong. But then, you are walking into the equivalent of the Arabian Nights. Dreams and reality fuse into one.
Most anything you might want on your Dubai honeymoon, such as a romantic candlelit dinner by the beach, will be arranged. Take note that in Dubai, restaurants do not serve alcohol; alcohol is only available at hotels.
Eventually, you will be leaving your hotel to explore the city and its surroundings. In Dubai, you’ll find lots of exotic entertainment. Explore the local souks (spice and gold markets). Fancy a camel ride in the desert? Or go on a romantic nighttime safari that includes exploring for Arabian wildlife by torchlight. Then spend the night under the stars at a Bedouin camp after enjoying a fabulous three-course dinner.
In Dubai, the extraordinary is the ordinary.
More About Dubai
Dubai made the transition from a small fishing village surviving on pearl farming to a gilded, glitzy, high-rise city in a few short years. It is the second-largest emirate in the UAE, located by the Persian Gulf. A mere 30 years, ago, there was only one skyscraper in Dubai. Currently, the number of high-rises is approaching 500.
Everything in Dubai is an exaggeration of the norm. It has the tallest building, the one and only seven-star hotel, and the world’s largest aquarium. You’ll find the largest shopping mall and so much more here. The city’s creators were thinking big.
Despite the city’s love of luxury, you don’t have to spend a fortune on your Dubai honeymoon. There are affordable hotels (without gilded chandeliers). Getting around in a taxi is inexpensive. While gourmet restaurants are abundant, there are plenty of reasonably-priced eateries.
In addition to the glitter, Dubai has culture that you shouldn’t miss. The Etihad Museum and Dubai Museum offer interesting history lessons. And the Dubai Opera is highly respected.
You can celebrate your Dubai honeymoon with all the drinks you want, just make sure you are in a licensed bar within a hotel. Take advantage of the freebies – women drink for free on Wednesday evenings, and Friday’s all-you- can-eat-and-drink brunches are a tradition.
Dubai is a Muslim country, and many visitors wonder how to dress. It is actually a very cosmopolitan and liberal city. You can wear shorts or a summer dress in most places. And a bikini is fine at the beach.
You may want to consider is Dubai’s love of extravagance and glamor. While you are at liberty to dress any way you desire in most places, it’s a city that dresses to impress. Even when shopping or enjoying lunch, fancy clothes, make-up (the ladies), and neat hair are expected. That includes a day at the mall. Also, the club bouncers can be snobbish. They will judge you on your looks before permitting you inside. The more glamorous you look, the better your chances of getting inside. Clubs such as the White Dubai or the Club Boudoir only want a certain type of person inside, so dress accordingly and flash the glitz. Women have been known to get turned away for not wearing stilettos. Since these clubs host many celebrities, it might be worth getting glammed up for the evening.
At the malls, souks, and mosques, you need to be covered from shoulders to below the knees, even in the soaring summer heat. No worries about getting into trouble with the law if you forget; a security guard is likely to ask you quietly to cover up. Avoid tight clothing, cleavage, or anything see-through. Dubaians have no interest in any of Victoria’s secrets. The same rules apply to men. No matter how firm your backside, stay away from tight pants. And wear a shirt everywhere except the beach.
While in Dubai, you can get around the city by using a taxi, their Uber system named Careem, bus, or their metro system.
Important Things To Know
Dubai is a friendly destination, but it entails its visitors to respect its Islamic inspired customs, culture and religious beliefs. So here are some of the essential dos and don’ts that every couple should know before they travel to Dubai.
- Wear modest dresses that conceal your shoulder and arms.
- Carry a shawl or jacket on your anytime Dubai trip. This is especially useful when you visit air-conditioned malls and conservative places of interest like mosques, cultural institutions etc.
- Avoid any kind of PDA (public display of affection)
- Don’t eat or drink in public if your honeymoon trip coincides with Ramadan.
- Don’t hesitate to take prior permission before you capture images of certain significant government buildings and locals including Emirati women.
- Drunk driving, carrying illegal drugs etc are a serious offense in Dubai, which result in heavy fine payment and may even lead to imprisonment.
What To Pack
- Comfortable cotton clothing is recommended for your summer Dubai trips, while winter months require you to dress in layers due to chilly windy nights.
- Bring smart casual / party wear for your lavish night outs or dining in an impressive venue.
- Carry medications that you regularly take.
- Pack your sunscreen cream / lotions, sunglasses, hats etc if you plan to spend more time outdoors.

Weather in Dubai
Dubai is invariably hot all year round. It’s all a matter of degrees. Wintertime, or the months of October through May, can have a tolerable temperature of approximately 100 degrees. The nighttime temperatures get around a comfortable 60 degrees. The water will warm up to 75 degrees.
During the winter, most of Dubai has a lot of morning fog due to the humidity. Usually, the fog does not become problematic, but it has been known to close the airport.
There are fewer visitors to Dubai in the summer than during the winter. The temperatures during July through September will rise to the three-digit level with the humidity in the 90s. Dubai goes from hot to steaming. It is not the optimal time for any outdoor activities. Basically, most activities will take place indoors.
