About Utah
Utah is in the western region of the U.S. and is entirely landlocked. Due to its difficult-to-maneuver canyon terrain, it is one of the few states that wasn’t of much interest to outside forces, such as the Spaniards. It was, however, the perfect remote place for Europeans searching for religious freedom to settle. Many Mormons who practiced polygamy and were persecuted elsewhere found their haven in Utah.
Today, half of Utah’s residents are Mormons, and they still greatly influence the culture. Many oppose the consumption of caffeine and alcohol. But these substances are perfectly legal, and Salt Lake City has a thriving nightlife.
Utah’s natural beauty is a smorgasbord of wonders served up by nature for your enjoyment. The iconic Salt Lake is the fourth largest lake in the world without a natural outlet. The water evaporates naturally. It’s a saltwater lake and is popular for sailing, camping, cruises, and swimming – or, more accurately, floating. The lake is filled with so much salt, it is impossible to sink, so anyone in the water naturally stays afloat on the surface. The best place to visit Salt Lake is in Antelope Island State Park, with its marina, clean beaches, and even the occasional curious bison or two. After swimming in the lake, it is important to shower off all that salt.
For the most amazing view of Salt Lake and its surroundings, take one of the many cruises, including a romantic sunset tour.
Utah has several romantic small towns that are perfect for a Utah honeymoon.
If you are looking for fun and adventure, you could spend your entire Utah honeymoon in Moab. Hell’s Revenge is a local plateau with challenging trails (dinosaur tracks included!). Here, you can take a dinner cruise on the Colorado River or go rafting to get the adrenaline going. A guided tour of Moab is highly recommended.
Springdale has only about 600 residents, but it is by the incredible Zion National Park. Zion National Park has one of the most stunning landscapes in Utah and the best hiking in the U.S. The wildlife here includes majestic eagles, foxes, bobcats, and deer. After a great hike, go tubing down the Virgin River. The OC Amphitheater at the Dixie State University has concerts and symphonies – all outdoors surrounded by the majestic vista. The beauty continues indoors with half a dozen art galleries showcasing regional artists. Best of all, Springdale can serve as your base for a day trip to Las Vegas.
For some otherworldly time-travel on your Utah honeymoon, let the incomparable Dinosaurland take you back to prehistoric times in Vernal. The name is given to the region because of the number of dinosaur artifacts found. They must have truly loved it here. Visitors come to see what is left of prehistoric times amid this rugged and stunning terrain. At the Dinosaur National Museum, you can touch some actual dinosaur bones. After exploring the dinosaurs, enjoy the local hiking and river rafting. Dinosaurland has anything you are looking for and a few things you probably aren’t expecting.
