Olympic National Park
Few places on earth have the diversity of Olympic National Park. Snowcapped mountains soar skyward up to 8,000 feet, while lush, green rainforests rule the ground. Mount Rainier National Park
Mt. Rainier has 26 glaziers and is an active volcano. Visitors come from afar to climb this 14,410-feet mountain. It’s a unique experience and the perfect challenge for any outdoor enthusiast. Climbing Mt. Rainier during the winter, when it is icy and snowy, can be difficult. During the summer, the climb turns aesthetically beautiful as large areas are filled with glorious wildflowers.
Lake Chelan
Lake Chelan in Lake Chelan State Park is a four-season getaway. The Spring is perfect for hiking and exploring the lake. This is also when the neighboring wineries release their first wines of the year for official taste testing.
During the summer months, Lake Chelan offers boating, kayaking, fishing, golfing, and the perfect weekly Farmer’s Market. For the adventuresome, enjoy rafting, paragliding, and skydiving. To get out of the heat, check out a first-run movie at the Ruby Theater.

Leavenworth, Washington
If you find yourself in the State of Washington and get a sudden craving for some alpine culture, go to Leavenworth. This is a Bavarian-style village where lederhosen and dirndls are normal attire. Love a good schnitzel? The German food here is superb.
Leavenworth becomes especially magical during the holidays. The village is covered in snow and brightened by thousands of lights to guide the carolers through the streets. Hoh Rain Forest
The Hoh Rainforest in the Olympic Peninsula is a theme park designed after the Amazon rain forest. You can float down the river and see eagles, pelicans, and even humpback whales. There is, of course, plenty of hiking. The Hoh Rain Forest was designed as an educational ecological experience.
Weather in Washington
Washington has a very diverse landscape, from rain forests to mountains, so visitors can expect the weather to be diverse, as well.
The eastern area around the Cascade Mountains is drier than much of the rest of Washington. It gets less rain, but it gets more snow in the winter.
The Puget Sound area along the Pacific Ocean has moderate temperatures but can get rainy by the Olympic Mountains, where the weather becomes fairly dynamic.
Springtime in Washington means less rain in the west, but other areas experience heavy downpours through June. Snowfall through March is not unusual. The coastal area can bring chilling ocean breezes.
The overall Washington weather warms up in June, when the temperature rises to the high 60s. There is little rain, and this is the ideal time for outdoor activities. Even temperatures in the 60s can get chilly, both during the days and the nights, so a jacket is recommended.
So much of Washington State is forest greenery, and the fall brings on a changing color palette. The weather is still a reasonable 50 degrees, but the rain will begin to increase substantially.
From November through the spring, the temperature will drop to freezing or below in most places. Most snow comes in the form of a light drizzle, except in the mountains.
